A year and over 50,000 followers later it features international young style icons and global influencers through personal interviews and in depth profiles, showcasing talent that has yet to be seen. While New Jersey may be known for it’s infamous party scene, and for it’s vast number of jersilicious divas, the garden state seems to be harboring some serious artistic talent—David Moses among them. The young budding photographer seems to have a keen eye for style and detail, his photos being particularly fashion-oriented—which is a plus being that David has a love for both fashion AND photography. I was able to catch up with Mr. Moses to see more about his take on photography and his plans and hopes for the future! Here’s a bit of what he had to say:

How, when and why did you first take up photography?

I first took up photography when my sister’s friend started taking pictures my sister about two years ago. She had a really expensive Nikon and an extremely impressive control of the camera that I envied. I remember looking at her pictures and really getting inspired to pick up a camera and shoot someone. I wanted to be as good, if not better than her so I ordered the Nikon D3000 online and started shooting. Today I work with the Nikon D90.

What is your favorite aspect of photography?

My favorite aspect of photography is the connection between the model and the photographer. There’s something very special that happens between me and the model when I’m shooting that I can’t really describe. When I photograph a model I get to know him or her, which is the most enjoyable part.

What other areas of the fashion industry appeal to you?

I’d have to say the fashion design industry appeals to me the most. I want to be a fashion photographer because I love fashion so much. The fashion industry isn’t always nice but it’s always fabulous.

 Describe your ideal dream job.

My ideal dream job would be shooting for either Nylon, Vogue, Elle or any other large magazine. Shooting top models in designer clothes would be such a fantasy for me. To open a magazine and see my photographs would make me feel so good. I’d absolutely love to shoot Cole Mohr, Callum Wilson, Ash Stymest, Lily Cole, Francisco Lachowski, and Sylvester Ulv. Any location with any of these models would be perfect considering they’re all so beautiful.

What is a muse to you?

I’ve had this friend Shira for a long time whom I consider my muse. She’s the best model I’ve worked with so far and by shooting her I feel as though we’ve become closer as friends. A muse is something a photographer needs to inspire, intrigue, and motivate him to do better.

 Favorite sources of inspiration?

I get a lot of my inspiration from varied sources. Nylon, Vogue, Elle, Hanneli, The Sartorialist, Style Bubble, and Style Rookie are just a few. Now that I’ve seen this blog I’ve been even more inspired, so thank you!

What do you hope to accomplish within the next couple of years?

Within the next couple of years I hope to get my foot in the door of a few magazines. I’m applying to colleges very soon so I hope to find one that I really fit into. I also got some advice from a friend of mine to start emailing about internships so hopefully I’ll find an internship I like at a place I like.
