Frolicking around my grandma’s scenic acre-long yard property in New Mexico was one of the highlights of my stay. If I wasn’t exploring the grape vineyards or sitting under the plum trees, I was making my way to her barn-turned-studio to indulge in painting and other artistic activities. Honestly it was incredibly nice (and necessary) to escape the digital world and come back down to Earth… and just enjoy it.
Additionally, New Mexico pays host to many of what I like to call “hole in the wall” towns, amongst them the scenic village known as Madrid. Paraphrased form it’s official traveler’s website, Madrid is known as unique creative community nestled with fun shops, restaurants and galleries. It was my second time visiting the intriguing little town and it was one of my favorite stops during the trip. Eating a delectable home-style brunch at No Pity Cafe followed by vintage shopping in the colorful town square was the ideal afternoon. It was also incredible to see Madrid’s untouched history, as it was once primarily a mining town turned artistic birthplace. Culture, history and stories are thriving in New Mexico, there is seemingly always a story waiting to be told.
